We followed our heart…

After long and often crazy careers, our family craved a sustainable quality of life surrounded by nature. While on holiday in France 2018 visiting our French family, we stumbled upon Castle le Mouchetard - an early 18th century castle, that had previously been used as a horse station.

It was fate as a horse mad family. The castle with its expanse of nature, history and culture was perfect…

Our Story…

Set in 55 hectares of woodland and meadows encompassing two fresh water lakes and a natural spring surrounded by all types of wildlife it was idyllic.

Included in the estate, set away from the castle with separate entrances, sat a beautiful farmhouse and orangery, both perfect for renovation. We decided right there and then we would convert them into our home.

All this and only 10 minutes from the local town with a wealth of supermarkets, bakeries, large hospital and rail links to Paris and beyond.

There was no question this was our home.

The land and the surroundings were magnificent. The house and outbuildings on the other hand, required extensive work. It was heart-breaking to see such a once beautiful estate in such a bad state of disrepair.

All 33 rooms in the castle needed work, with the top floor requiring full renovation. It has taken 3 years, numerous amazing artisans and lots of hard work from us, to finally see the castle return to its majestic past.

The farmhouse and orangery have also been extensively renovated and we are happy to say we are finally settled. It has been a tough journey, nothing prepared us for this but it is one we are so happy to have undertaken.

It’s now a beautiful space perfect for all generations, renovated to a very high standard of luxury.

“We loved the whole experience and didn’t want to leave!”
